At SIGGRAPH 2024, the excitement surrounding 3D design and rendering powered by AI was undeniable, and for good reason. From digitizing materials to sustainability in data centers, to groundbreaking innovations in AI for 3D modeling, the event showcased the future of design for industries like contract furniture, architecture, and interior design.
Our colleagues Roman Molina and Eric Schonhals, both 3D artists from our Visualization team, attended this year's event and shared what impressed them most as professionals working in high-end visualizations and project presentations. Here, we’ll explore how these advancements—especially in AI, digitizing materials, and sustainability—can elevate your design processes and help your business stand out.

These days it seems like you can’t go far on the internet and not hear something about chatbots, image generation, and sound-alike robotic voices. We are currently amid a deep AI craze, and everyone knows about it. However how deep does this craze go? Does it go beyond the trippy images and funny text logs you are seeing across your social feeds? Can this be something that businesses use to their advantage? Well, you can stop wondering because they already are. AI has made its impact and already many businesses have incorporated the use of it into their products and services, and this includes several design industries such as interior design, architecture and space planning.
AI design tools are just starting to be explored as they are in many industries. Many designers are exploring how this new tech can play a role in their design phases. But are we seeing a more permanent role for AI in design? Or will this be a fad? We will look at how some are using AI and the kind of future we see for AI in design as well as many other businesses.
